Dr. Hurwitz received his medical degree from Louisiana State University New Orleans Medical Center. He completed his general surgery residency training at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He then completed two fellowships, a fellowship in surgical oncology from Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and a second fellowship in advanced minimally invasive surgery from the University of Southern California. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and has held multiple leadership positions at Hoag Hospital. Dr. Hurwitz has received numerous awards and has been a practicing physician for 30 years.
